Mark Carney is a Canadian economist, former central banker, and politician who serves as the Prime Minister of Canada. Recognized for his expertise in global finance and economic policy, he has held some of the world’s most influential leadership positions in banking and public service.
Born in 1965 in Fort Smith, Northwest Territories, and raised in Edmonton, Alberta, Carney studied economics at Harvard University before earning a doctorate from the University of Oxford. He began his professional career in international finance before joining the public sector.
